1. Don't want to deal with the current competitive players, I don't blame them.
2. Too busy with school/work.
3. Get bored

Deathrun get's boring over time because of the cycle of it.
Map change -> Play rounds -> Own Noobs -> Get bored -> RTV -> Map change...
Since new gamers start with newer games over time there will be less and less people because of the game that is becoming old and there is way better stuff to experience somewhere else. For example more Steam players now buy more newer Steam games like Gmod13, Portal 2 because it's new and eventually hl2dm will come to a point where it will die out because everyone will forget about it. Every game has it's own start and finish. hl2dm is like in the middle of it's life time now. In about 10 years people will forget.

Excuse me? gmod 13 is a total shit since t updated. I now regreat having bought it.
I was hoping for him to create a totally new game instead of overriding existing one and breaking everyshits including console.
And portal 2 is just... it's portal 2.

1. Quit claiming this game is dying, people are busy and it will be better played in the summer+there are full servers every night. Sure it's not like before, but should you really give that much shit about it ?
2. New maps, I don't see how people will get bored, you can just nominate an old good map, or a brand new one.
3. Games like Portal 2 and Gmod 13 are not worth the money whatsoever.
4. People will forget? We'll see about that one in ten years when there's still about 100s of forums left.
