Once more again:

Before, validating game cache files would have fixed this error, but now, it doesn't work anymore and all my attempts to fix have failed.
I'm planning mapping for cs:go now, cause Source SDK is only crashing or having errors like this.
EDIT: gameinfo.txt problem......

The error comes directly from gameinfo.txt, I am trying to edit it and revalidate everything to get it to work.
This link shows old gameinfo.txt of HL2DM.
The new one, has the tools line deleted.
Restarting Steam doesn't fix it.

Apparently the error doing this is that Source SDK is still trying to get old files from HL2DM (before Steampipe update), therefore, Source SDK will try to make me validate gcf but I can't do it since it got updated by Steampipe and HL2DM doesn't use GCF anymore put VPK's.
Therefore, the old directory that I got for the gameinfo.txt makes SDK to work, but now, changing its directory to the new one, will start the Hammer, unfortunately, I can't open any files since I get error on opening a file.
Conclusion, I can't use SDK anymore with HL2DM neither with CSS, leads me to cancel all my maps I am working on and meaning that I can override it by using 2009 engine version and Half Life 2.
So it makes me lose 5 GB space with all my custom models.
Therefore, I'm definitively stopping mapping for HL2DM and CSS and I'll go on Portal 2 and CS:GO Authoring tools.
Have fun.

Why don't you just make maps with normal hl2 and ship the .bsp in the hl2dm folder?
That's way easier than messing around with hl2dm in source sdk that always breaks each week...

Wasting time always dragging bsp.

All i did to get my sdk to work again was just re-create the old folder setup: steamapps/<accountname>/half-life 2 deathmatch/hl2mp/maps, models, materials, sound, & original gameinfo.txt

Compiled maps end up in the hl2mp/maps folder as they always did, and i just copy to my current common/../hl2mp/maps folder to test.

or if you're on vista or higher you can mklink (windows equivalent of Unix's symlink)

Whatever, all Gaben is doing is breaking everything.
