How could something be "better"... It does exactly wat its supposed to do very simply. Packs materials, models, and sounds right in to the map lol

I guess I have a magical working english copy..

Or you could download it off a website other than the dead one's listed on the valve wiki.

I didn't check whether this was safe or not, or if it works, but this looks promising:

I usually watch 3kphilip's videos to help me in Hammer, so I am better at mapping. I'm not an expert for sure, but I know how to do some deathrun maps =)

A tutorial to take textures/models from any source game and use them in mapping in another i.e. using DoD jeeps in Hl2:dm

First, you need three things: GCFScape, and two Source games.

Step one) Open GCFScape and Open a new item.
Step two) Browse files until you find you steamapps folder (C:>Program Files (x86)>Steam>steamapps)
Step three) Open the .gcf file (if you have GCFScape installed, it will appear as a stack of purple somethings), it will say (game name) source I.e. day of defeat source
Step four) After you open it in GCFScape, open either the materials, models, sounds, whatever you want folder. Continue to browse until you find the content you want.
Step five) Simply drag and drop the textures/models into wherever you want!
Step six) Take the material and put it into the source folder for whatever game you want to map in (for hl2dm its half-life 2 deathmatch>hl2mp), then put the material in the appropriate folder (a texture goes into materials, model into model, etc)
Step seven) Open Source SDK and click 'Refresh SDK content' and after a brief reload, your materials should appear in hammer!

Extra tips:
If you want to view a texture (.vtf) before you do anything else, you can either install VTF viewer (http://www.gamefront.com/files/service/ ... id=4333494) or you can use VTFEdit to convert it into a jpeg image.
If you want to view a model (usually .mdl) before you do anything with it, you can use the Model Viewer available in Source SDK.
Also, don't forget the texture's .vtm! Very important, or else the texture will not work!
