Nick's Scripting Lessons

Post by nick_6893 » Thu May 24, 2012 5:14 pm

So many people on steam ask me about how to script and such. It's crazy. I decided to start making lessons on scripting that are pretty in depth. This is basically how I learned from the start to now for real, no bullshit.

The way it will work: A new lesson will be uploaded to the site for every $100 donated toward the server. This is not from one person, based on all donations. So lesson 2 will be uploaded when donations hit $1170.00. Many people will not even know that donations are going toward this, but this is something extra that I think a lot of people will benefit from. I can't keep telling people how to script, you have to learn it and these lessons will answer all your questions.

The lessons will be based on learning basic scripting techniques in javascript and then will go on to sourcemod and c#.

The first lesson is uploaded. Do not say its shit. If you honestly don't want to read it cause there's no scripting or coding, then you will never get scripting (especially if your someone who lacks in math or logic). This is how professors and teachers teach, except I'm not giving lectures!

They will now be all pdfs. However there is a password to open them, which is "gr".

Maybe if you think about it.
You can get someone to change it from .pdf to .txt or something just for you.
Another way is to get a .pdf reader.

To clarify the lessons, I'm not teaching how to make a webpage with javascript. I'm just using javascript as a way to teach basic scripting techniques such as if statements, having arguments in functions, loops, and inputs/outputs.

All scripting/program languages have the same basic functions and javascript will make it very easy to test out these scripting techniques rather than compiling and having to go into game every time. (You just go on your browser and open up the html file)

This way, it will be sort of easier when you look into sourcemod/c#.

Not a big deal, lesson 2 will cover all of javascript, and lesson 3 will start the real stuff, sourcemod/c#.
