So I now have 2 PC's...

Post by JoshN0S » Thu Dec 11, 2014 2:44 pm

Both are DELL, both have Intel Processors (i7 and Pentium)

Now I still haven't checked all the specs of the Pentium Computer.

I just have a question, which should I use for steam?

The one with the i7 is a Latitude, the one with Pentium is a Inspiron.

I'll update later when I'm home with a picture of them.

Okay So Computer #1

Brand: Dell Latitude E6540
Screen Size: 1920x1080/17.3 inch
OS: Windows 8 Pro
CPU: (Haven't Checked)
GPU: (Haven't Checked)
RAM: 8GB @ 2.7 GHz/3.4 GHz w/ Turbo
Mobo: (Haven't Checked)
PSU: (Haven't Checked)
HDD/SSD: 500 GB

Computer #2

Brand: Dell Inspiron 15
Screen Size: 1366x768/15.5 inch
OS: Windows 8
CPU: (Haven't Checked)
GPU: (Haven't Checked)
RAM: 4 GB @ 1.9 GHz / 2.3 GHz w/ Turbo
Mobo: (Haven't Checked)
PSU: (Haven't Checked)
HDD/SSD: 500 GB

Both are not the best PC's ever but go for computer #1
Also why do you have the processor and the GHz separately? It's meant to be together for example i7 4790k 4.0 GHz 4.4 GHz turbo.
Honestly if you spent $1200 on computer #1... I would of killed my self long ago...

Also just keep it in this format:

CPU:
GPU:
RAM:
Mobo:
PSU:
HDD/SSD:

Honestly from my POV, I'd advise selling both PC's, get the cash you need and go for this build.

I can't sell PC #2 cause my sister also uses it

PC #1 will be much less valuable to any hardware store due to it being Mobilized Graphics and an alternate OS from the original, that and it has a screen glitch.

Start of by using the format I told you and now type down the details of both PC's.
Also include RAM this time and once that's done I'll be able to tell you what you should get to have a better PC.

I'll have to do that when I get home If I have time.

It's true that Amazon has got good prices on parts.

I sold my other computer from HP and built a new one.

True, I spent $4000+ total for a full 4K experience including 3, 4K screen (60 Hz) from Samsung, 3, Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 (it has to handle triple 4K resolution), i7 4790K, 2, 1 TO SSD, 32 GB RAM DDR4 (8×4), 1000 Watts power supply, water cooling, Windows 8.1

I'm on the phone, so I can't get the full details but you get the idea.

It includes keyboard and mouse.

I really don't care about what you got to say about my config except of ideas.

Back to the main subject.

Josh, do you plan on building a new computer?

Well yeah. I plan on Dell as it's been my most successful computer to work with. The first one is better right now, but it's pretty much non upgradeable.

Since both computers are laptops, you are really limited with what you can upgrade and change.

This I know but I believe #1 is even more limited than #2
