Windows 10 Preview

Post by ant_8490 » Wed Oct 01, 2014 8:51 pm

Windows 10 Preview came out today. Anyone else try it? Looks good based on what i see. It's like a blend of Windows 7 and 8.

I'd love try try it but i don't want to delete 500gb of games and shadowplay clips just for trying Win10..
If it won't erase my Harddrive that i got all my games on, i might do it!
I got an SSD running system and HDD for games and stuff.

If you have alot of data, I wouldn't recommend you to do it.

Microsoft highlights that you could have data loss.

Windows 10 is still a WIP and some features are unstable.

In consequence, if you wish to try it out, make sure to back up all your data.

If you install it, then you acknowledge the risks.

Microsoft will not be held responsible if anything happens to your computer.

I guess its supposed to be a "big" update that will separate itself from Windows 8...

You can get VMware Player (free) and try it in a virtual machine like i did. Just boot the VM with the iso download.

I don't get it either. @Ant, or maybe they don't know how to count after 8.

Most likely the error was something like: "processor visualization not enabled". So yeah, you would have to enable that setting in BIOS. Most PCs have that disabled by default.

You can also use VirtualBox (open-source). If you're running Win8.1 make sure you disable Hyper-V because it conflicts with it.

Btw, i had to try it as my homework, and write an A4 page about it :v

It seems GCFscape is broken on my side.

.NET won't simply work no matter how hard I try to troubleshoot the issue.

Windows Update won't do anything and even if I manually do it, it'll tell it is already installed.

I went to enabling it through Windows features, it won't work either.

I don't know if it's Windows 10 mucking up everything but I can't get it to work properly.

But I expected that not all programs would work anyway.

You're using windows 10 as ur actual OS or just testing stuff virtually?

Edit: Just installed GCFscape on Windows 10 and it works. After installation, "Windows Features" asked to install .net Framework 3.5 and that was all. Make sure you have the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Packages installed: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/?p=26

I use it as my actual OS.

It seems that it works now.

Weird things happen overtime.
